I have been away from this blog for a while. I'll try using it again this year to keep track of enjoyable hunts and challenging days. I feel as though I lost out on a lot of memories last year by not chronicling events...and last year was a phenomenal year for waterfowl and horrible year for big game.
Technically, no season is open right now. However, I am less than a week away from the launch of deer season. This season typically signals the time of relaxation for me. It's my time to recenter myself and re energize my batteries for the year. It's my time. It's my time. I am the boss. I decide where I hunt. I decide what my decoy spread looks like. I decide whether or not to let a deer pass or to take a shot. Sometimes I decide these things with close friends that I hunt with, but I decide on some level nevertheless. It's my time to spend with my kids, and this year, my wife.
Signing off for now to finish my to-do list so I can disappear into the shop later. My deer hunting equipment needs to be brought out and hung in the breeze to begin the "de-stinky-fying" process.
